Due to the pandemic, no yurt workshops were held in 2020.
However, that doesn't mean there were no yurts created..... Richard Hughes did an immaculate job of creating this 1/8 scale model of the Standard Yurt with the help of his laser cutter. Thanks for sharing your progress, Richard!
And Mike has been working at creating a small yurt sauna at his homestead.
This tiny yurt is 6' across at the base and about 10' at the top of the wall. It has an aluminum foil vapor/air barrier in the roof beneath R-15 RockWool insulation. The wall boards are sealed to each other with EPDM gaskets for airtightness. The floor is framed with cedar 2x4's and cedar deck boards above them so that wash water in the sauna can drain freely. The cedar bench tops lift out for easy cleaning. In addition to it's visible beauty, the conical roof gives this sauna has incredible acoustics. It is a worthy resource for rejuvenation all year - but especially in the snowy Vermont winter months! I love this little yurt so much that I'm working on creating a plan for it - stay tuned....
