--Visiting the place we know as Dickinsons Reach--
Dickinsons Reach is a 500-acre active homestead without road access in Downeast Maine. Sacred ground to the Passamaquoddy Nation, the land was stewarded more recently for the last 50 years by Bill Coperthwaite and then by Bill and five families of his choosing. After Bill’s death, those families continue to steward Dickinsons Reach. If you’re serious about visiting, you’ll find the trailhead.
Please do not park on any private or public road or in any place other than our parking lot at the beginning of the foot trail where you will also find our sign welcoming you to Dickinsons Reach.
We provide a beautiful 1.5-mile public trail from the parking lot to the ledges, a scenic rock outcrop on the tidal Mill Pond. It’s a great walk. This public trail does not access our homesteads in order to protect our privacy.
Please honor our privacy by staying on the public trail from the parking area out to the ledges. We do not allow public access anywhere else. We do not allow camping or fires anywhere.
If you want to visit one of our homesteads including any of the yurts, please write or call us in advance and request that permission. Please do not leave the public trail or access any other part of Dickinsons Reach without our permission granted in advance.
